Beader Design #18 : Cathie's Serpentine and MOP necklace

Cathie is an artist and she made full use of her natural creative flair and created this lovely mossy green serpentine and mother of pearl necklace. The oval serpentine gemstone beads were side-drilled which gave the design a different dimension. The MOP (mother of pearl) are the darker green tiles. She spaced the green beads with metal beads.

Serpentine is often called new jade which is an apt name as it is a gemstone alternative for jade. Serpentine comes in a range of shades from a yellowy green to this muted green. I have both varieties in my collection although I must confess I love the particular shade of green in this design as it evokes calm and tranquility.
