Red Hatter Earrings

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

A local chapter of the Red Hatters, the well known social group for women over 50, have come to workshops and beading parties to make jewelry especially for their outings together. Many of them have been busy designing the society's signature red and purple colours for unless they make it themselves, finding earrings or other jewelry in those colour combinations is difficult. Elaine just used red though with dagger beads on chandelier findings. The dagger beads are side-drilled so wire wrapping worked. Another suggestion would be to use a combination of triangular and round jump rings if one was not up to wire wrapping.

Joan chose a mixture of red hearts and bluish-purple beads for different chandelier earrings. These findings are simple unlike the fancy scrolled ones above. As Joan decided to use equal length dangles rather than the more common uneven lengths, I think her design has a rather art deco look about it.

You could join Red Hatters even now as a "Lady in Waiting"! I believe lavender is their colour.
