I recently got a tip off about the Use the Muse II Contest organised by Scarlett Lanson, the Bead Maven over on her blog, The Beader's Muse. Scarlett is a regular columnist on Beadwork magazine. She is most certainly doing a great job at "elevating the craft of beading to art"as she is a terrific beader having won big competitions such as the 2009 KGI Wordwide Design Contest.

She created the Use the Muse contest for all beaders - bead stringing and bead workers so they can get a chance to win some big prizes from her sponsors. The cost of entry is a kit to be purchased for $30 plus shipping ($5 for US, $10 for international). Every entrant gets identical kits plus a mystery muse component which has to be kept secret until the BIG REVEAL.

The order deadline is June 27 so hurry if you are interested. The contest runs only 10 weeks.

Scarlett also offers other competitions. Blogger Awards are for bloggers who chose to write about the contest. But not everybody has a blog or blogs regularly so there is a random draw for the Crystal Quad which is 4 sets of 44 4mm bicones for blog posts, comments and forum contributions. There is even a fun "Guess how many crystals in the glass" contest. The winner naturally gets to keep all of them!

The photograph shown above is a necklace called "Scarlett Sings" by Cynthia Newcomer Daniel (see my past post on Jewelry Tales) who was the overall winner from Use the Muse I contest. Bottom left is the design by 2nd place winner, Chelsea Johnson and next to it is Jeni Smathers' 3rd place creation. Click here for the full gallery of entires.
