Bangles made out of wood or other materials are fun to make. Or if you'd rather not make them, fun to decorate. So here are some tutorials which show us how to do both types.

Simplicity's free project on weaving special metallic leather trims to plain bangles was inspired by Project Runway. If you cannot get the special leather, I dare say regular leather will work too.

If not leather , then consider wool. The wool wrapped bangle tutorial on the Martha Stewart site also has a video.

Got a yarn stash you want to whittle down?  Deanna Tierney May on Craftstylish has a fantastic tutorial for yarn wrapped bangles. She has great ideas on how to use braided, twisted and knotted yarns to get different effects.

What's the other kind of stash you might have?  Fabric, of course. So use those scraps up with this fabric wrapped bangle tutorial by Poppychic. She used very thin metal bracelets as her starting point. You could also do this with a thicker bangle or omit the bow detail. Via

You could also go to town and really decorate a plain fabric wrapped bangle as seen on Teresa Searle's tutorial. You'll be using up your button stash too. If you are a polymer clay artisan, I am sure you can conjure up your own button designs.

Studio 5's tutorial is super chic as the rolled fabric flowers make the bangles look like wrist corsages.

I've always loved the beauty of wood and the skill of artisans who can do marquetry. So if you are also a woodworker or know someone who is, check out Gary Smith's tutorial on how to turn a bangle and inlay some decorative work.

Not into making your own wooden bangles?  Then check out Deana Tierney May's tutorial on how to paint bought ones for the artist in you.

Still prefer wire?  Then check out my past post on wire wrapped bangle tutorials.
