Making a Chain Necklace for an Awesome Turquoise Pendant

By on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 4 Comments

Johnette bought an awesome turquoise focal pendant in Dubai. This beautiful piece had charms dangling below it including a tear drop turquoise bead. She needed a necklace to go with the pendant.

So she and Debbie (Widgets' Beads) put their heads together and came up with a chain interspersed with turquoise chips and gorgeous mother of pearl disc beads.

Johnette spent the afternoon first with a fine pearl reamer enlarging the holes of the mother of pearl beads so that the wire she was going to use to make loops could go through. She also had to practice and then make the wire loops for the turquoise chips and mother of pearl beads. A bead board was sure useful in determining the positions of those beads so she could add the right lengths of chain. That was a very busy but productive afternoon! Well worth the effort, Johnette!

  2. Cool. Such a unique stone. Guess you have to be pretty careful with pearls?

  3. The end result is indeed beautiful and so much better than just sticking the pendant on a simple chain or cord.

Pearls are delicate delicate gemstones. But drilling them is merely tedious!
