I admit it. I have a yarn stash too...besides the beads. So here is a cool tutorial to whittle down yarn stashes. The tutorial is by Elise over on Grow Creative.
She uses a crochet chain as the foundation to sew on the crochet flowers. What I think would be cool is to replace the crochet chain either the whole thing or just at the back with a metal chain.
You can use any crochet flower pattern, not just Elise's. And mix in different colors, maybe add crochet leaves here and there?

Neat idea Pearl and I really like your suggestion of using a metal chain for the base instead of a chain stitch of yarn. That would give the necklace a little weight and help keep it from curling or twisting. I can just imagine this done up in rainbow colors. What a lovely bouquet it would make.
