Mark Poulin, who is based in Oakland, California, is a metal smith with a creative split personality.  On one hand, he creates beautiful mid-century inspired silver and enamel jewelry for his store, MarmarModern, but on the other hand, he displays his playful side with the whimsical dinosaur and animal pendants in his other store, MarmarSuperstar.

He explained more about his dual creative spheres, "This is the side of my personality that can spend hours looking at different quality pens in the stationary store in Japan town. Or draw sloths for two days straight. Or the part of me that stays up way too late trying to figure out how to make a stop animation movie. I like this place."  Mark clearly is a very, very creative and curious person.

He definitely likes contemporary styles as many of his handcast pewter animal charm pendants have geometric patterns.  He also confesses he likes fun and inexpensive things. This explains  why he makes these whimsical animal necklaces as well as his other designs which are made from materials such as paper and magnets.

His studio picture shows him in his happy place!
