Cigar shaped Beads

I love long cigar-shaped beads and have bought several in different colours. Many beaders also like them but the first to go are usually the black ones.

However, Karen shows here how lovely the topaz-coloured beads of this shape can be. She still had black in the colour scheme for it adds elegance to the design. Notice she placed these black round beads only at one end of the cigar shaped beads for an asymmetrical touch. Many beaders would have used two for both ends.

She refrained from using more black for her seed bead clusters - these were silver-lined black beads which imparted a metallic grey look for additional contrast. It is these simple differences which makes a design unique.

Very cool combo!

I usually shy away from those elongated beads, but I am going to have to take another look. I really love that topaz color!

Yeah I probably would have done it - I'm usually compulsively symetrical. Need to break that habit!
