Beaded Tila Wheel Necklace Tutorial

By on Sunday, March 12, 2017 3 Comments

Most people bead with tila beads flat. Here is a design tutorial by Whimbeads which does it differently. The tila beads have been arranged on their edges thus giving the design a more pronounced 3D look. The resulting motifs do look like wheels hence its name!

Too often we get stuck in ruts using components the way everyone else does. So remember to play with your beads and see if you can come up with an unconventional way of using them.

  1. That's great! I love it when people think outside the box.

I found something I didn't know if you would be interested in:

Book pages laminated together and then made into jewelry. As a book lover I found it great.

    1. Thanks Liz! I am always grateful for reader suggestions. I have covered Littlefly before : http://www.beadinggem.com/2010/12/literary-jewels-paper-rings-from-books.html

  2. Sometimes just throwing a bunch on the bench makes designs come together all by themselves! I find I also put different colours together that I probably wouldn't have by doing the same thing.

We all have to think outside the box when it comes to designing something new. Even just looking at different types of jewelry making can be inspirational. I don't do traditional beading but I sure get a lot of inspiration from it.
