Notice how she placed only one filigree ball against one of the crackle beads in her earrings. Many beaders would have been tempted to balance the design with a second filigree ball. But Gloria likes asymmetry as you can also see with her necklace above.
Debbie suggested that Gloria place perhaps two crackle beads on either side of the foil pendant to make the latter visually central. But Gloria already liked the necklace as it is. The more she looked at it, the more she liked the pendant to one side. And so it remained!

As it should! She is pleasing herself, that's what counts. I admire someone who is able to resist the urge to always be symmetric. That's me. You put it on one side - you put it on the other side. Why? Cause I'm too rigid sometimes. Good for Gloria!
ReplyDeleteAsymmetry has it's place and the earrings are fine, but I think it makes the pendant look like an afterthought. It would bother me until I took it apart and fixed it.
