Farm Animal Amigurumi Crochet Keychain Pattern Tutorials | Fun on The Useless Farm

Crochet amigurumi animals are incredibly popular. I spotted a lot of these in recent years when I've gone to various craft shows. Patterns for these are also trending in a huge way. So much so that I had great difficulty in selecting just these few! Soft and squishy little animals make for great keychain or bag charms. Please check out the links at the end if you prefer small animal beaded tutorials.

I particularly love the humourous ones like the funny chicken (and frog) pattern from kisiselamigurumi, shown above.

Crochet Gnomes Patterns with a Touch of Humour by PamPinognomeshome

Gnomes are perennially popular. I couldn't resist PamPinogomeshome' amazing and large collection of crochet gnome patterns.  They are adorable and funny at the same time.  I think if you reduce the stuffing and keep the gnomes fairly flat, they could be converted into fun brooches.

Why so many?  Kristina Avertisian, the designer explained :
I have been crocheting for many years. Coming up with something new and interesting is my favorite pastime. Crocheting is everything for me. You'll find many fun crochet patterns in my store for every holiday or occasion.

Vintage Japanese Craft eBook Tutorials from NapaginiVintage

It's not easy to find Japanese PDFs and craft books. However NapaginiVintage (no longer available)  has of some of their  great vintage ones  dating from before 2000 which are worth looking at.  These tutorial bundles are very cost effective. They cater to different craft techniques. Here are my selections from those which could be applied to making jewelry and accessories.

Japanese craft books are usually very well illustrated with clear diagrams so language, if not in English, should not be a problem to decipher. My late, very crafty but illiterate maternal grandmother picked up some craft patterns from Japanese books. Girls in her day in British Malaya - now Malaysia - were not sent to school.

Vincent Van Gogh Inspired Jewelry and Craft Tutorials | The Troubled Life of a Gifted Artist and How His Work Became Famous

The Dutch painter, Vincent van Gogh is arguably one of the most famous and admired Post Impressionist painters today. His powerful brush strokes and bold colors make his work so vibrant - despite a tortured life. In his short lifetime, his work was not appreciated and he only ever sold one painting!

Shown above is the beautiful hand embroidery pattern of his most famous work, Starry Night. The designer is Iryna Kutsyna of bloomingdaythings. Iryna is one of the rare Van Gogh fans whose designs also include his other famous works including the sunflowers still life shown below.  Van Gogh painted many sunflower pictures. He wanted to always paint things as they were -  he didn't care if some of the blooms were way past their best!

Crochet Hat Patterns for the Cold Weather | To Add Beads or Not, That is the Question!

Brrr!  This, at least for us in the northern hemisphere, is a cold month. So this feature has a double function - keeping our noggins warm AND happily crafting away in the warm. I have chosen both beaded and non-beaded crochet hats.  You can certainly add beads, enamel pins or even bead embroidered brooches if you want! I've come across so many wonderful patterns too numerous to write about, but here are a few.

Shown above is the heart beaded crochet beanie pattern by Michelle of  HookedbyHoltby. She makes lovely patterns. Another one I love from her collection is this multi-colored beauty . Fun Canadianism : We also call beanies, tuques!

Amazing Micro Crochet Jewelry, Accessories and Home Decor by ChillCraftandJewelry

ChillCraftandJewelry is a group of gals from Washington, who create some lovely micro crochet designs. These are unique and range from jewelry all the way up to larger items like the Buddha on a lotus car mirror accessories shown above as well as the amazing jellyfish night lamp! A shout out for the dragon design, too!

The smaller jewelry pieces were my favorites especially the cascading sakura and lavender flower earrings. Also well made are the clever beaded berries which were teamed up with micro crochet leaves. The brooches are also worth a mention because micro crochet pins are not that common.
