Did you press some dried flowers this summer? I have quite a few dried flower and resin tutorials on my blog - see the links at the end. But what if you want to do more than jewelry? Check out these two really creative ideas from Arizonan crafter, Sibia Torres Padilla. She instructs in the use of natural and recycled materials.
Shown here are two of her quick tutorials from her Instagram, @sibster. If you are not on Instagram, just close the sign in box (on a desktop computer), and you will be able to see the tutorials.

How to Make Recycled Soda Can Flowers for Home or Garden Decor
Are you a gardener? Then you will know flowers are not that plentiful in late summer and fall gardens. The herb garden generally do not have showy blooms either. Why not make some recycled soda can flowers to add to garden beds or in planters for some extra color?
There are many ways to make these flowers if you look for them on Youtube. Here are a few of my favorites by some very creative folks. Each construction method is very different.

How to Make Bugle Beads from Recycled Plastic Bottles | Plastic Bottle Cutters
Bugle beads are made by drawing long tubes of molten glass out until they are fine enough. Once cooled, they are then chopped up into the desired lengths. You too can make your own bugle beads without having to work with glass! You can use them for super light upcycled jewelry or perhaps a craft item of your choice.
This upcycled project cleverly turns narrow strips cut from plastic water or pop bottles into bugle beads. The tutorial is by Plastic Bottle Cutter.

How to Make Your Own Metal Bails for Polymer Clay Jewelry Using Aluminum
Gloria Uhler of Domestic-DivaOnline has always used aluminum sheets for her crafting projects. She and I, as well as a whole host of crafters have found aluminum easy to cut. Aluminum is silver tone and thus a cost effective alternative to silver.
One of the least expensive sources of aluminum are soda or beer cans. See my tutorial on how to make upcycled aluminum can jewelry.

Making jewelry can be an expensive hobby. One way to get some great supplies is through your local charity shop. Most of the time, the jewelry there is not worth a second look. Yup, plain old junk. But occasionally, there are some great bargains for gemstones and good crystals. These pieces can be taken apart, washed and dried and recycled into new jewelry. There are indeed some Etsy stores who sell recycled jewelry designs!

How to Make Wine Cork Charms
It really seems a waste to just toss wine bottle corks into recycling. Cork is a wonderfully lightweight natural material which can be used in jewelry making. Cork is impermeable so there is no worries of it getting soggy at all. And should you drop cork jewelry in any body of water, it will float!

Bejeweled Upcycled Bottle Photo Display Tutorial
I've covered different home decor ideas before which involve beads or upcycling jewelry in clever ways. This tutorial by Joanne Palmisano is gorgeous. It features recycled bottles which double as unusual photo displays. She called them memory bottles because you can add sea shells, little pebbles or sand from a holiday.
