How to Make a Wire Hair Comb Tutorial

By on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 3 Comments

There's nothing wrong with using bought hair combs, plastic or otherwise and wire wrapping beads and crystals to it.  However, if you wish to make your own base wire hair comb, then check out this tutorial from Fire Mountain Gems.  Once made, you can embellish them to your heart's content.  Check out the last link below for some wire wrapping inspirations.

A word of caution. Be careful and make sure all wire ends butt closely to the design. Otherwise, hair is going to get caught!

  1. Funny you should post this right now Pearl - I'm adding a comb to a friend's veil for her wedding.
I'm then decorating it with little seed pearls to match the pearls in the veil....such fun!

I've made combs and decorated them with a load of little flower beads in many colours with glass leaves here and there - looks so pretty when they are done. The ideas for decorating them are endless. But yes - watch those wire ends - ouch!

  2. There doesn't seem to be a tutorial for the pictured hair comb. Is there one available?

    1. Yes there is Kathy. Just click on the link (text in red) and you will be taken to the Fire Mountain tutorial page. I do not reproduce tutorials that are not mine. But I help by finding good ones and redirecting you there.
