Ways With Wire Part 1 of 3
Double holed metal beads adorned with pretty crystals are perfect for bracelets. But that doesn't mean you are limited to just bracelets. I have seen them used in necklaces, sometimes strung only through one set of holes.
They can also be used for earrings. The pretty purple set on the left were made by Millie. She loves working with wire so she used short pieces of wire to make double holed beads do double duty in her earrings as well. The scrolling and added crystals are nice touches.
The earrings on the right are mine. I used ordinary beading wire to connect both metal beads together with very little of the wire showing in the front. If you look really closely, the flattened crimp bead is hidden at the back. This was a reader tip in a beading magazine (probably Bead & Button) I saw some years back.
These are just two ways. I am sure there are plenty more permutations for these beads.

That's really cool! It's a great way to recycle broken vintage or cheapy dollar store bracelets that can no longer be worn, or are so fragile the coatings wear away! Earrings barely show wear so the fragility wouldn't be an issue
ReplyDeleteSometimes picking up a replacement for a lost crystal is more trouble than it's worth to turn it into a cute pair of earrings! That crimp tip is great!
I have some double-holed beads and as of yet have never used them. Great tips!
