I don't have a regular schedule with giveaways but now seems like a good time to have another one! Michelle over at Evie's Tool Emporium on Etsy has kindly offered to do another giveaway.
The last time Michelle did a free tools promotion here was right after I presented my how to use the 3 step wire loop forming pliers tutorial. I had previously bought the tool (shown above) from Michelle's shop and got to know her. She offered two different tools back then. This time, instead of set tools, the winner will get a $20 certificate. It's a great opportunity to try out a new tool and technique.
Many of her tools are under $20. Some are even under $5. So what would you get? Here are 3 tools to consider if you don't have them already, with matching tutorials! This selection will hopefully inspire you to try new techniques. Do check out her store for more.
Jeweler's Saw
This saw will let you cut your own metal sheet shapes including inside the shape.
Susan Lenart Kazmer's video tutorial is well worth the 9 minute view as she not only gives a demo on how to use a jeweler's saw, she also includes numerous tips. She shows you how to cut a round circle as an easy example but it can do so much more.
Metal Stamping Set
Lisa Niven Kelly's video tutorials are very good. Part 1 covers the basics while part 2 is where Lisa shows how to actually stamp and complete a pendant. You can purchase ready made discs in all sizes.
Dapping Block
This tool helps you to dome a round metal disc. TheRomaZone's video tutorial shows you how to use one to curve 3 different sizes of stamped discs for a lovely tri-metal pendant. It looks like a fun way to vent your frustrations!
Michelle also runs a free tools in exchange for tutorials program which you can read about it on her blog. Her current offer is a leather punch set.
If you don't have a blog or don't feel like writing a tutorial, try and win some tools instead! What you will have to do is leave a comment (subscribers, please click on the post title to return to the blog so you can comment) at the bottom of the post by 6 pm EST next Wednesday, March 3. For extra entries, please subscribe, follow, Facebook or Twitter me - let me know in the comments. Good luck!!

ReplyDeleteGood morning:
ReplyDeleteAnother great give away Pearl! Thanks for the opportunity.
I tool a jewelry-making course and used a jeweler's saw. This is definitely a technique you need to practice. Don't give up if you break a few saw blades. You need patience and practice to get this right.

Have a wonderful day!
Michelle-
I just recently had a class on wire wrapping and have totally fallen in love with it. My first project was a large cabochan (sp?) wrapped in dead-soft square sterling silver wire. My next few practice pieces will be done with cheap copper wire that I have on hand. But, right away I realized that I am definitely going to need new tools and am thrilled that you posted this giveaway. As usual, I had no idea that there was someone offering such great deals on hard to find tools.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

I was sent here by Michelle (From Evie's) as I didn't know how to use a jeweler's saw, (and probably half the tools listed here). What an AWESOME instructional video. Thank you SO much for taking much (unneeded) fear away and explaining it so that everyone can understand! I will definitely be back, and will definitely be following on facebook. I'm still fairly new at this, and my dream is to work as a metalsmith, and also make my own glass beads. :)
ReplyDeletethanks SO much! I would really like to win this it would help tremendously, especially as Evie's place has such awesome prices on tools! :)
Cheers, God Bless, Cynthia
