Well, my favorite DIY fashionista has done it again with her rope necklace tutorial. Love Maegan took ready made curtain rope ties and ribbon and turned them into a fabulous statement necklace. The route to a good design can be hard or easy. It couldn't be easier or more stunning than this. Not to mention cheaper too.
She was inspired by the very expensive designer rope jewelry costing a few hundred dollars. As you can see from her tutorial, she neatly solved the issue of what to do with the thick cord ends. Sheer brilliance!
I haven't tried it yet but I think you could also use a couple of beaded lengths instead of cord. It'll probably work better if the stringing was done with beading thread and not beading wire.
Another idea is to make a really long beaded claspless necklace. Check out Jean Campbell's 11 ways to wear a rope necklace on the Beading Daily blog. Shown here is the lariat style. You really can get a lot of mileage out of one plain necklace!
