Remember the Turk's Head knotted ball tutorial? As I mentioned back there, the knot balls can then be strung in different ways. Soft round balls from yarn and other materials are a fun alternative to round glass beads. Here are some tutorials to inspire!
Alma Stoller actually uses cotton balls - the kind you use to wipe off makeup or dab antiseptic onto wounds. Her clever How to Make Fabric Beads from Cotton Balls tutorial shows how to make the balls and embellish them with 24K gold plated beads. Via
The round balls can also be created by crochet as shown by Craft Passion's beautifully written and illustrated tutorial.
The above necklace is my favorite. It is but 1 of 5 necklaces she made in all sorts of colors. Doesn't it look good with a neutral colored outfit?
I also loved the fun safety pin dangle earrings by Divya over at Jewels of Sayuri. She removed the heads of safety pins to cleverly use the rest of the metal as chandeliers. Her soft round balls are fuzz beads but you could also add crochet balls.
