Hot enough for you? Well, I am sweltering in this current heat wave. Here is a wonderful idea from Kimberley who writes the Tiny Funnel blog - a sponge necklace! Wet it down, chill in the freezer for 30 minutes and pop it on!
Although a little boy models the necklace in her post, she agrees with me, it's not just for kids. She told me, " I actually wore mine to the grocery store the other day. It is 90 degrees F here!"
The sponge necklace makes so much sense as one's body heat will be conducted away. I once wrote about real ice cube jewelry which does the same thing but only far more drippy!

Oh my god, I love this!!! How I wish I had one around my neck right now..... So simple and fun! And highly, highly practical in this weather :) It's brutal right now in NYC!
ReplyDeleteBrutal is right - I've got to try this or make an ice cube necklace myself!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea (in extreme heat, having something cool or cold on the back of the neck, actually helps cool the body and prevents heat stroke).
ReplyDeleteI bet these bright, lightweight necklaces are a favorite with children - can imagine they would even make for a wonderful kids craft project.
