I have a confession to make. Long before I started on wire work, I actually bought ready made wire spiral beads! I needn't have because these are really easy to make.
The video tutorial by Sandra Huntress shows how you make a double spiral on a length of wire which are brought together and opened up to form the cage. Her static instructions are available here. Having loops on either end naturally make these caged beads linkable for bracelets. You could also use just a head pin for earrings.
She used her hands to form the spiral. I suggest using nylon jawed pliers which will not mar the wire. Note - the sound is not great.

Great tutorial! I had no idea that would be so simple. You would have to tumble the bracelet to stiffen the silver, I imagine, especially for the connectors and clasp. Very cool!
