Egyptian necklaces were the Ancient World's equivalent of statement necklaces! They prove that good design really last...thousands of years! The Egyptians often used more than one layer in their designs (see other posts below) with spectacular results.
One of the cleverest tutorials I have come across is the Egyptian or Cleopatra style necklace tutorial by Matter of Style. She used ball chain and made many bead and wire connectors!
A simple but bold necklace tutorial by Jenni of I Spy DIY uses spray painted straw. Metal tubes will also work if you can find them.
Now we can all get that Cleopatra look!

Another method of making Egyptian collars is with wire crochet on chain. I make them this way.
