I love designs which are fluid and sculptural. If you feel the same way, then you will like this inspiring tutorial spotted on Fire Mountain Gems. The designer, Catharina Thomas, created a wonderful beaded ribbon curl of a necklace using brick stitch which she called "DNA Ribbon".
The brick stitch with a twist ensures the beaded strand curls. The way one end cradles the pearl is delightful!
It's not strictly like DNA because DNA is actually a double helix (see first link below). However, who cares when the design is as lovely as this one! Experiment with different beads, colors, etc!

ReplyDeleteI made this necklace for someone over the Christmas holiday. I made it in blue and white crystals
ReplyDeleteBlue and white is a very pretty combination. Lucky someone!
ReplyDeleteLove this necklace!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comments on my work, Pearl, much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely check out FMG's tutorial on this. I love the simplicity and fluidity of the piece and especially love the loop and button type closure - makes it look like a small lariat necklace.
ReplyDeleteWow - just checked it out on FMG - it is a wonderfully clear and concise tutorial - now I want to make one. :)
