Om Tara's Easy Crimp™ Crimping Pliers Giveaway

Laura Gaspirrini of Om Tara is a beading instructor who has been teaching for over 15 years both privately and at her local college.    She says she watched so many of her students struggle with the crimping process.  It is an important step because the last thing anyone wants is for a crimp to fail.

Laura eventually designed her Easy Crimp™ pliers after a conversation with her father who is a retired engineer and the designer of innovative fishing pliers.  She said, "My dad’s fishing plier had a crimping section that was far easier to use than the current beading crimpers available. Seeing his fishing plier in action was a revelation!!" The result are pliers which do not confuse anyone with multiple indentations resulting in questions like "and the crimp goes over where?"

Her pliers only have one indentation to do the initial step of pressing the crimp onto the beading wires.  There is no attempt to separate the beading wires like in other crimping pliers so the force applied would all be directed on connecting the crimp to the beading wires as close as possible. Just one squeeze is enough.

There is no rounding of the crimp either which is tricky to do well.  Just leave the crimp as is or fold it over or flatten. Nice and easy. Secure, too.

The Easy Crimp™ pliers will be featured in the Product News section of next month's issue of Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine.

Laura also sells other high quality, life time guarantee jewelry making tools through her website.  Her cutters were developed at the same time with the Easy Crimp™ pliers as Laura had also noticed how her students were rapidly ruining their cutters to trim their beading wire.

The blades of Om Tara's cutters are made from carbon carbide which means they can cut through stringing wire, craft wire and fine metal wire alike.  Ordinary flush cutters do not survive very long if used to cut through the stainless steel bundle cores of beading wire.

  4. I would love to try a better way to crimp. So far I use just a flatten the crimp. But it isn't the best way, I'm sure.

  5. These look like awesome crimping pliers. I haven't done much stringing lately because I don't like using the traditional crimping pliers. I could get back into stringing with a pair like these!!

  6. I must have at least 1/2 a dozen crimping pliers and still find myself fighting to get a decent looking crimp (thank heaven for crimp bead covers!). I'd love to give these pliers a try - anything to make finishing off those pesky little necessities of jewelry making easier is a welcomed blessing. :)

  8. When I first started trying my hand at making jewelry, I always tried to avoid crimping. I hated it. I always felt awkward and ended up breaking the crimps, getting the wires crossed and just plain giving up. I realized that I could not avoid it and continue to get frustrated when crimping. I would love to give these pliers a try. Sandra Woerner, popspet@comcast.net

  47. Well Chances are with all these entries I won't win but that really doesn't matter because I have got to go out and get a pair of these. I swear I have tried every type of crimper there is on the market and hate them all. SO now I simply avoid making anything that needs crimping!!! And that leaves a lot out of what I am not creating at this time. Would love to finally find a crimper that really works well. Hope this one is it!!!

When I have used two different types of crimp pliers, the standard type and the one that makes a round crimp, I always get a sharp edge on the crimp and have difficulty trying to get a smooth crimp without also cutting my wire with too much pressure. Your pliers appear to be the answer to my problems. Thank you for your creativity.

I can't figure out how to make a comment below the blog; When I click on Post a Comment it takes me to a blank white screen. I was going to say that the fact that you don't have to figure out exactly where to place your wire between the teeth is a huge convenience and I imagine would make for a much cleaner finish to a piece. Hope this counts! Thanks!
