One way to get statement necklaces is to use rope or thick cord including paracord. I really admired the following tutorials because the resulting pieces were bold, colorful and so much fun. Very inspirational!
The big rope/cord macrame pendant necklace tutorial on Geneva's A Pair and a Spare blog definitely qualifies. The tutorial designer is Megan Todd of Knots and Knits - she makes some amazing paracord knitted bags! She has a wonderful eye for big rope projects.
Another stunner is Christine of Court and Hudson's neon paracord necklace tutorial. Paracord is usually the material of choice for masculine bracelets but this one is rockin' feminine! It's bold too without being heavy.
Those awful stiff as anything wire coil cord ends you hate can be used here! You can also coil short wire ends or just substitute with beads.

Nice tutorials using larger cording. I really like the macramé pendant in Megan's design and I'd love to try it with much finer cords. Sigh - but right now I have so many projects waiting to be completed that I am feeling overwhelmed. Lately it seems like every project I start I have to stop because I find I NEED something. How can one have a veritable roomful of beads, findings, cords and beading paraphernalia and still not have what one needs ???
