Embroidered Art Pendants by Danielle Clough

You could say Danielle Clough paints with threads. She is an accomplished fiber artist whose much larger works show incredible depth, texture and color.  Her embroidered art pendants though were her "attempt at disciplining myself to work small."  It is demanding to render the same kind of details to smaller subjects.  As you can see from this selection of my favorites, she succeeds.

The animals are all adorable but her portraits are particularly stunning. Danielle is from South Africa particularly interested in visual art, music and South African street culture scene. She is an accomplished photographer and also creates visuals for live music events - a visual jockey. She said "As a photographer-designer-vj-embroiderer, she has lived a life forever bound to the hyphen." Nothing wrong with that. In fact, a multi-faceted life enriches the artist.

  1. Oh!! I love the parrots!! They are adorable!

What an incredible talent. Embroidery is difficult at the best of times - especially if you want to have nice even stitches and can do the french knots without tearing your hair out (who me?)

Lovely lovely work. I'm sure it takes a bit of time for each piece.
