I love beaded balls. But what if you are not that into beading them? Consider making bead embellished fabric balls for jewelry making. This tutorial is by Tatiana Bogachuk (a.k.a prykrasa), a Russian beader over on livemaster.ru. The use of bead caps not only cleverly hides the fabric gathering but adds to the over design as well.
Of course, what you do with the fabric balls after you make them is up to you! The examples given in the tutorial are drop dead gorgeous. The designer made a fabric ball charm bracelet and this stunning bead crochet rope necklace.
