I honestly did not expect to see many responses to last week's giveaway of Marilee Rockley's book. It's not as popular as knitting and crochet but many of you actually wanted to learn a new craft. And if you can wear it, all the better!

Cool Circles

Some of you have actually tried it before but had not seen the jewelry potential.  Like Sarah who said, "I started tatting ~30 years ago but took a 10 year break until this last December - I'm learning there are a lot of new ideas for tatting since the last time I picked up a shuttle..."  Yes, indeed!

Dragonswing also said, "I have done needle tatting to make doilies but would love to make some jewelry."  As I have said before, you will have to figure out Marilee's patterns for needle tatting. The solution is to learn how to shuttle tat!  Jodie  was another who "tried shuttle tatting and couldn't get the hang of it. I learned needle instead. Maybe someday I'll figure out the shuttle."  It just takes practice!

What is heartening is that tatting is not a lost art as Aims pointed out - "To see tatting crossing into the jewelry realm and coming on strong is absolutely heartening to those of us who feared it would go the way of the Dodo bird."

You can purchase Tatting with Beads Jewelry book through Marilee's Etsy. It is also available on Annie's Catalog (publisher also offers pdf format).

So who won?  I numbered all the eligible entries and got the random number generator over on random.org to pick the winner.  And the winner is Keri LaPensee!! Congratulations!
