Leather can be manipulated in many ways to become functional and decorative works. It can be dyed, painted, carved, stamped, perforated and so on. Viola, a leather jewelry designer from Moscow, Russia shows astonishing mastery of this craft through her amazing leather flower brooches.
She combines leather with other materials such as gemstones and beads. Her molding and shaping skills in particular are truly inspiring! She also does a few jewelry sets - the lariat at the end comes with a brooch and matching earrings.
Her store information is in Russian. So either use Google Translate or follow my favorite method. For computer users, use the Chrome browser, right click and select translate to English. For mobile device users, use the Chrome app (free) and agree to the translation when asked.

These are fantastic. The juxtapositioning of laser cutting with moulding makes it so beautiful. It reminds me of the time I use to make leather flowers without any references and struggle to get it right
ReplyDeleteThese are simply gorgeous! What beautiful pieces of art!
ReplyDeleteI like leather products. They have that leather smell, feel and texture that is uniquely leather.
Leather products are biodegradable. Even when they are tanned and coloured which makes them a great product to buy to sustain the environment.
Incredible! I think this is the best use of leather in jewelry-making that I have seen yet.
