Lan Anh Handmade created this caged round cabochon wire pendant tutorial which is a must see.  The criss-crossed wires spaced out with crystals is lovely. It is called a lotus bud pendant because it does indeed resemble one.  You can use either gemstones or crystals.

This is done with 3 gauges of wire, all of which are round. Usually square wire and half round wire is used to make wire wrapped cabochon pendants. But this designer simply used wire weaving to connect all the wire lengths at the bottom. So round wire is just fine!

Once the frame is formed, the back part of the pendant is created - this might be confusing to some as it looks like there is a double frame!

All becomes clear when the front work is done. Cutting the wire ends and tucking them in just so will require some careful work.
