I find it hard to believe that it has been EIGHT years since I reviewed Rebeca Mojica's chain maille book "Chained"! I first knew her as the owner of the online and bricks and mortar shop, Blue Buddha Boutique which sold chain maille supplies.
Rebeca ran that Californian store from 2003 until 2016 after which she moved entirely to BlueBuddhaBoutique on Etsy. There you can still find her chain maille tutorials, kits and supplies.
Rebeca is an excellent instructor. Her tutorials range from beginner to advanced levels. They are also available as part of kits.
Although she does use beads for a few designs, her designs rely on anodized aluminum for pops of color! She has a great eye for patterns.
I recommend you get Tool Magic, also available at BlueBuddhaBoutique, to coat your tools to prevent scratches on such rings and wire. This flexible coating is not permanent. You will have to reapply from time to time.

I love chain maille and her designs are quite extraordinary. However, after trying one design, I find chain maille to be challenging. Nice to know where I can get the correct supplies the next time I design to challenge myself. Tool Magic is great for protecting the surface of any metals you are working on.
ReplyDeleteRebeca's designs are wonderful. Did you begin with something simple like the Byzantine or Helm weave?
