I have written about faux metal and faux gemstone polymer clay tutorials before. But did you know you can combine faux metal polymer clay work with real gemstones?
Check out these awesome tutorials by Ludmila on Youtube who sells her unique professional supplies on SweetBijou.
The stunning pendant tutorial shown above incorporates a labradorite cabochon. Her long texture templates adds beautiful details to the intermediate level design.
Her easy faux copper bracelet tutorial uses a real turquoise stone. She actually started out with what looks like a round amethyst but decided to use the more brightly colored turquoise. I like how she uses the scallop edge from one of her long texture plates to use as the bezel.
This tutorial shows how she added not just a labradorite but other elements such as a faux mokume-gane (Japanese metalworking technique) bead. She adds all these elements onto an elongated bail. A stunning creation!
See how she created the faux mokume-gane bead with polymer clay in this tutorial.

It's truly amazing what you can do with polymer clay. When I saw the tutorial by Ludmilla I was amazed to find that the pendant was mostly polymer clay. I thought it was metal!
ReplyDeletePolymer clay is so much fun to work with and incorporating stones with it is wonderful!
