High Tech Spy Inspired OpenMe Security Swarovski Ring

By on Wednesday, April 07, 2010 3 Comments

I don't know about you, but I always have to root through my handbag for my house keys. There has to be a better way.

One concept design for the future is this high tech Swarovski adorned OpenMe Security Ring. It is reminiscent of what any beautiful female spy would wear in a James Bond movie.

The ring is quite discrete until the cut glass section pops out. I'm not quite sure how it really works but it apparently will use some sort of 3D scanner to help you open locks. It remains to be seen if it will become a reality one day.  The dual purpose design is neat, don't you think?

This concept ring was designed by Brussels based industrial designer, Marcial Ahsayane. His studio develops concepts as well as research and development projects  for leading manufacturers in Europe and the US like Swarovski, Gucchi, Samsonite and Cartier.

Many, many ideas have to be generated before a few make it into real products. Some concept designs I wrote about in the past include electronic sensing jewelry - real mood jewelry and the Swarovski contact lens. One sure fire popular idea is lie detector jewelry - see this past post about someone's truth bracelet. Can't remember where you put your cell phone?  Then check out the Re:Collect gadget bracelet. With renewable energy a hot topic, the solar panel LED necklace is right on the mark!
