Black stone, picture jasper and pearl necklace

By on Friday, August 06, 2010 1 Comments

I had forgotten Debbie (my friend and co-instructor) had bought this picture jasper focal with a black stone frame the last time we were at a bead show. This particular specimen of picture jasper was green in color. The black stone frame made for a strong definition.

Black stone is a generic term for a variety of gemstones like jasper which has been dyed black.
Anne picked the focal out at a beading party. She did a fabulous job of choosing the right beads to go not just with the colors of the gemstone pair but she also managed to soften its angular feature.

She used a mix of round and rectangular black stone beads to tie in with the frame of the pendant.  She then added old gold and cream cultured pearls as well as white glass pearls. The large flat oval beads were green in color.

  1. Hmmm... Really liking this colour combination!! MORE inspiration ... I don't know if I can fit any more inspiration into my schedule... or my badly-packed 'brain'... But I will just have to find room for this one - I have some great beads in these colours... A-beading I will go!!
