Papillon Inspirations
Part 1 of 2

People who consider themselves bug haters will more than likely make allowances for butterflies.

These delicate beautiful creatures are not surprisingly a popular motif for jewelry makers.

One outstanding example is the Papillons Collection by top jeweler Van Cleef and Arpels. The stunning jewelry using precious stones and metals will surely be wonderful inspirations for those who work with wire as well as bead work artisans.

The creativity of the designers is delightful as they explore so many ways the bedazzling gem embellished butterflies are displayed. Some are so like the insect when it alights on a flower or branch. Others capture butterflies in profile or show decorative flourishes in the antennae and wings. Exquisite!

  2. Simply gorgeous and so beautifully depicted in precious metal and gemstones.
I think some of natures smallest creatures, such as ladybugs, butterflies, and hummingbirds, translate wonderfully into jewelry.
Seems to me I ran across a blogger who expressed her fear of butterflies, would seem strange that anyone could fear such a beautiful and fragile creature.
