This picture of actress Idina Menzel ("Enchanted") taken earlier this year at the 62nd Annual Tony Awards in New York, shows a radically different type of necklace. This striking design sits across one shoulder and really perks up a bare shoulder outfit. It certainly adds drama.
We always think of necklaces as something draped around the neck but why not the shoulders too? Artisans like us tend not to stray from the norm but stepping outside our comfort zone sometimes results in a radically different design.
The necklace appears to be made from large flat gemstones. It's hard to tell but I am guessing red jasper and something like moss agate? Whatever they are, the design is certainly eye-catching.

I wonder if it's a long chunky necklace she kind of slung over her shoulder. Think it was made to be worn like that?

It's hard to know for sure without seeing the back. But a shoulder necklace is an intriguingly different way to consider.
