I have always liked knitting and crocheting with wire to make funky jewelry. To be honest, I never thought the yarn knitted type would work for jewelry. Famous last words. Take a look at the bold and vibrant hand knit jewelry by Tally the artisan behind Little Purls.
She uses quality wool yarn for her original designs. She hand felts the creations as the electric blue earrings shown here. Her hand felting involves scrubbing for 3o minutes in hot soapy water which shrinks the piece and closes up the stitches. This makes for great cording which she uses to good effect with multi-corded or braided necklaces.
The result is sometimes huge jewelry which are "so lightweight you'll forget you're wearing them! " She does custom orders so if you like a design in another colour, she can easily knit it up. Her Etsy shop is called Little Purls and you can check up on what's happening with Tally on her blog Little Purl's Knittery. Jewelry like this are are also perfect for those who are allergic to metal and many are.

Little Purls' designs are very creative. I love most of them but somehow the large link chains, not so much. Maybe just a chain thing. A lot of work goes into each piece you can see. My favorite one is the red necklace.
