There is a growing trend to use raw, uncut and unpolished gemstones in jewelry making. It's all about viewing the beauty of gemstones as nature intended. One such artisan is Lavish Jewelry on Etsy who is from Dallas, Texas.

She called the above piece, her rough cut carnelian and faceted turquoise necklace "Natural Beauty" and nicknamed it her Wilma Flintstone necklace. Both were highly appropriate monikers!

She really uses the rough amethysts to great effect in the above necklace, mixing in sugilite rounds, turquoise beads and tiny Swarovski crystals. You know, after looking at her lovely designs, I'm convinced using rough gemstones in jewelry pieces adds a whole new dimension to creations! Don't they look delicious?
