I don't know why it is but Kelley is not the first beginner chain maille to really, really want to do a ring. It is difficult to learn with small rings but not impossible. In the end, she just made up her own design which I thought was rather fun and funky. Kelley used different colored rings for a unique design.

The weaves most suited for rings are the European ones because they are flat. It can be done as shown in a past beader design. Still, it is very tricky for a beginner. A couple of tips - do the chains in groups (as shown in this past post), anchoring down the first group with pins. Then use slightly larger connecting rings.
