When I saw Cyndi Lavin's "In Winter, My Garden Dreams" embroidered bib necklace, my jaw dropped! The level of detail is just breathtaking.
She used a Brazilian dimensional embroidery style. Perhaps those of you who are proficient needle workers will already be familiar with Maria Freitas' book, The Art of Dimensional Embroidery which inspired Cyndi?
She has generously written a tutorial for it. To keep the length of the post down, she divided it into Part 1 and Part 2. Cyndi has included other helpful resources should you be inspired to come up with designs of your own.
Another delightful embroidered bib necklace is by Taylor of MaryJanes and Galoshes. It's called the Embroidered Gem Necklace (Update : link no longer works) because she cleverly sewed the shapes of faceted gemstones!

What beautiful designs and great colors. I don't think I would have the patience to make this :(.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular ! So intricate !
ReplyDeleteThough I have done some standard embroidery using bullion stitch, French knots, lazy daisy stitches etc. I have never used beads in my stitch work. I cannot imagine how many days (or weeks) it took to create something with such detail, all I can say is it is gorgeous.
This is so Beautiful. It reminds me of an old style vintage applique. Looks great with jeans, a white tank and some dashing heels!
ReplyDeleteOh , I love it.
ReplyDeleteI`m inspired to try my first bib necklace now. Especially after discovering a fabulously easy way to create `emboidered effect' on my fabric covered beads the other day. x
Beautiful!
