Woven Wire Evil Eye Jewelry by Twisted Sister Arts

The belief in evil eyes as the bringer of harm and bad luck dates back to antiquity and occurs in many cultures. People sought to deflect back such malevolent looks by wearing talismans or charms with eye or blocking hand designs.

Jill Lawrence is a modern artist who still celebrates the evil eye motif in her gorgeous wire woven designs. All the glass eyes in her Etsy store called Twisted Sister Arts are hand painted.

Her wonderfully intricate wire wrapped  sections surround and hold the eyes. Each design even takes on the shape of an eye with upper eyelids too.

Her fans include those who like Gothic and Steampunk styles. Her designs surely won't go amiss with Halloween or cosplay enthusiasts either. Eye-catching, indeed!

Her inspiration comes from an old quote "Eyes are the windows to the soul" which is a variant of a proverb dating back to Roman times.  The Bible also has similar sort of phrases :

Matthew 6:22-23 (King James Version)
: 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
: 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
