There are many attempts at covering large objects with our favorite Swarovksi crystals but few are outstanding.  Stella McCartney's stunning Swarovski Horse Sculpture was one.  The Cloud Terrace is another.

This wonderful April 2012 installation in one of Harvard University's institutes, Dumbarton Oaks, is a collaboration between artists, Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot of Cao/Perrot Studio and JP Paull of Bodega Architecture. The art piece is a truly glistening example of garden design and architecture.

The hand sculpted canopy is made out of chicken mesh embellished with 10,000 Swarovski crystal element dangles. The result is a wonderful effect worthy of weddings and special events.

The sparkling cloud illusion is mirrored in the pool. The artists describe it as both a cloud and a chandelier at the same time. It took 5 weeks with many volunteers pitching in to help!

Artist Andy Cao said, "With the dark reflective pond catching the crystals' light, it’s as if one can see night stars during the day! With the presence of wind and sunlight, the crystals cast colorful prisms which dance on the water surface, animating the entire space."  How lovely!

Check My Modern Met for more pictures including the construction ones and an interview with the artists.
