Having made jewelry for people and taught the basics to many others over the years, I've found that metal allergy is something which crops up time and time again. There are people out there who cannot tolerate any metal against their skin. But that doesn't mean they should be deprived of pretty jewelry.
Desiree of 36th Avenue shared her Adjustable Ribbon Bracelet tutorial over at Tater Tots and Jello. What she did was to hide a thick metal wire inside a gathered ribbon sleeve. Embellishments are naturally optional and the sky's the limit as to what you can use. Sew on buttons, crochet flowers and so on.
Use fabric instead of ribbon. Silk will be a gorgeous choice. That might just whittle down fabric stashes a wee bit. Or recycle clothing if you are keen on being green.

Pearl thanks for finding and posting this cute idea. I love the sweet, feminine look of this bracelet and the fact that one can take the basics of this idea and create a gazillion different looks with it. It would also make for an adorable bracelet for little girls.
