This amazing wire statement necklace tutorial by Alana Fire over on livemaster.ru is a must see! It is not a full tutorial but one which covers the key steps. The tutorial is in Russian so you will need to translate it. My favorite way is to use the Chrome browser. Just right click anywhere on the page and select Translate to English. The translation is not perfect but will at least make the designer's notes understandable.
What makes this tutorial a standout is both the design and execution of the piece. You can see that she uses the sketch to slowly create the wire components for the design.
The designer said she rarely sketches designs. But one night, with the aid of cookies, she did draw out the design on what looks like whatever paper was available. The result is this gorgeous "Byzantine Night" piece.

Oooooh! That is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if 'tisochki hand' is a ring clamp or a third hand....hmmm....no matter - I've got the gist of it and I love it. VERY inspirational!!
Absolutely beautiful! And what a precision in making the details! I can help with aims's question: "tisochki" is the diminutive for "tiski" - the hand wooden ring/wire clamp in the picture (as opposed to the table-mounted vise):)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your explanation!!
