One reason why I am not overly fond of loom projects is the finishing. All those threads to deal with - ugh. So I am always on the look out for easy ways to finish a loom bracelet. Then maybe I will make more of this style of jewelry. The latest find is Kristi's tutorial over on What Nots (actually internet archived as the blog has been removed).
She doesn't weave each thread into the work. Her brilliant solution is to sandwich the ends with some ribbon. Her tutorial goes over what she uses. Ribbon clamps hide the ribbon!

Thanks for sharing Kristi's method. I sent her a comment, too. I really enjoy using a bead loom, but struggle about how to get them off the look an get a clasp on. As as result, I have a bag full of beautiful bracelets just waiting for me to get up my nerve to try to put clasps on. While probably too late for the ones I have already removed, I can't wait to try it with the next ones i do.
ReplyDeleteI think you can still use her technique even for bracelets that you have removed from the loom. You'll have to lay the threads out carefully on the ribbon though.
