Polymer clay is arguably one of the most versatile medium for artists. You can do so much with it. One site which really helps in the artistic expression of polymer clay jewelry and accessories is Iris Mishly's PolyPedia Online Express. Iris is a very talented polymer clay artist whose work has been featured in various publications.
There are many tutorials - the free ones are through her newsletter subscription - as well as tools and supplies. Iris explained, "I currently have about 160 tutorials in my website,
Each class is covering a specific technique, tool or design. Some are gathered in a grouped class (for example 15 projects using a clay extruder) and offer CD and sometimes several key tools/materials (I do not ship polymer clay as it is very heavy)."
Iris sent me a couple of her tutorials for review so I could see her approach to teaching. The PDF links I received contain essential information about the technique and materials. Links to private videos are provided with the PDFs covering not just the actual project but related instructions.
The Cosmic Ceramic tutorial features her clever faux ceramic finishes and how to create and use reverse molds. She covered both floral and round bead creations. Her demonstrations on how to use alcohol inks and different kinds of paint are so inspiring!

Some of her more recent tutorials combining polymer clay with micromacrame - something she is most excited about. The Pink Wedding earrings tutorial for example is an in depth one which shows how you can create complex alcohol inked clays and use micromacrame to finish off a distinctive design. The PDF also had links to other related videos like how to finish the beads, alternative painted sheets and the use of adhesive stencils.
Shown below are some of my favorites from her repertoire. Her polymer clay purse with zipper tutorial is outstanding! Her strength is in the artistic finishes of polymer clay where individual expressions are possible - the polymer clay rings below are stunning. And as she says, her extrusion clay work is "extrudinary"!

I love the ceramic look technique. I also like that she uses a wide variety of techniques and shares them. We usually just see the simple cut and cure ones, but she uses the extruder and I have always wanted to play with one of those, but was a little afraid. I would love to win this one so I can expand my hobby.
