South Carolina based Kara, whose Etsy store is Karisma by Kara, is both a metalsmith as well as a wire artist. Her minimalist and modern style has broad appeal. I particularly loved her whimsical wire creature jewelry. It was hard to choose my favorites to feature here.
Wire artists like her always inspire as they are able to literally "sketch" with wire. With some deft bends and curves, little animals emerge. She has cleverly added heart designs on many of her animal pendants. One adorable design I liked was the "love flying pigs" pendant! It brought a smile to my face.
She explained, "Karisma by Kara all started a few years back when I as a newlywed wished to bring in some extra income. I began making simple beaded jewelry, and then I started experimenting with shaping wire. After learning the basics of working with wire, I began to try more difficult wire designs. Ideas kept coming; my inventory kept growing; and demand kept increasing. That was it! I knew I had to turn this into a bonafide business."
She says she enjoys almost every aspect of her business. You can count photography among those aspects. Her photos as well as her designs are truly inspirational!
