The first stitch I ever learned was brick stitch.  It is a versatile stitch especially if you want to bead weave irregular shapes.  Check out Karen Parker's tutorial on how to make a brick stitch butterfly. Once you do, you can also apply the general technique for other insects and animals.




Small beaded designs can be used as earrings or pendants. Larger ones, perhaps brooches and ornaments.

Check out this past post on the different free charts you can print out to color in your own designs. Or if you are comfortable on the computer, there are some beading software (see my review) you can look into.
