The most innovative design ideas are often the result of mixing different media and techniques. I just love this clever resin and polymer clay ring tutorial by Cat Kerr. The ring itself is mainly polymer clay but the colored bits are resin.
The tricky bit will be to get the ring sizing right. Cat says to make it slightly smaller as it will become slightly larger during the process. I like how a stamp was used to create a little texture at the top of the ring.
The clever bit is how she cut out sections of the top before the polymer clay ring is baked. Then a mold is created which allows her to pour the colored resin into the empty space.
A unique look indeed.

What a great tutorial! Good idea Cat!
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting idea but also a very interesting design - it looks not just vintage but like something from a museum :)
ReplyDeleteYes, there is something vintage about it. But we don't have to use exactly what she used in order to learn from her technique!
