Many things inspired jewelry designers. This time, Vietnamese wire artist, Lan's muse was the Vietnamese traditional drum - her son was working on his drum at the time. The trong com (rice drum) certainly has cording spanning the space between the top and bottom of the drum.
This tutorial is simple with macrame style knots cleverly created along the two base wires.
Also of note is the clever bail which not only attaches to the necklace cord but also connects the two base wires. This is a clean way to deal with wire ends without having to do ornate scrolls and so on.

ReplyDeleteI have seen this stone wrap with macrame before and using wire for this technique gives it a whole new look! Frankly, I prefer the wire version :)
ReplyDeleteI wrote about the macrame version previously. Like you, I prefer the wire version mainly because I am comfortable with wire!
