Bead wrapped cord bracelets are very popular, both to make and wear. Most people though, then to add beads all the way along. But you don't have to.
This Art Beads tutorial by Cheri Carlson shows how you can add thread wrapping, herringbone style, in combination with bead wrapping. The embroidery floss she uses really makes the design pop!
Consider using macrame thread if you are using thinner leather cords in your designs.
I don't know about you, but I dislike having to handle long lengths of thread like this. I would make a cardboard bobbin and wind up the excess length so that the working length is more manageable. This will help a great deal if you are making more than a single wrap around the wrist.

Think the idea for the bracelet is great. Like your idea of using a bobbin. I can see from the video that it would make it a lot easier and more efficient.
ReplyDeleteI like the look but wonder how well the thread would stand up to wear and to dirt.
ReplyDeleteThat being said I've made so many wrap bracelets with this thread and love the feel of it!
