The flat spiral stitch was one of the very first beadweaving stitches I learned years ago. The Russian spiral stitch isn't flat at all but a beaded rope with the beads spiraling throughout.
I have come across a number of Russian spiral stitch diagrams which are not easy to figure out. This is not a difficult stitch but it is tricky to show in a 2D fashion which beads to sew through. But help is on hand!
Check out this Sonysree Creations video tutorial which is one of the clearest I have ever seen. The close up of how she does this stitch makes it easy to learn.

I still resist my desire to do more serious bead weaving for lack of time and need of new supplies for the purpose. This is something I just might try one day because I like the rope, I don't like flat bead weaving :)
ReplyDeleteRopes are pretty! The spiral stitch is very fast so you might want to consider that.
